We Have Peace Through Christ

Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid". John 14:27

Have you ever wondered how Jesus kept his peace when he was in the desert fasting for 40 days and was tempted by Satan, was called the son of Beelzebub, was talked about like he told lies and deceived people, was belittled because he was a carpenter's son, was mocked, spit on, beaten, charged with blasphemy and hung on a cross for sins that he didn't commit because his father (God) wanted him to give his life for sinners? John the Baptist had peace when he was imprisoned. Paul had peace when he was beaten, put in prison and shipwrecked several times, and was bitten by a snake after surviving shipwreck.

Peace is not only a fruit of the spirit after we receive the holy ghost which we only have to ask God to give us but Jesus gave us his peace. Why of all the things that he could have given us did he give us his peace before he ascended into heaven? Does it help to worry? How much of what you worry about comes to pass? Does it help to be negative and expect the worst? How often does the worst happen? Try talking to God about your worries and giving them all to him. Try thinking on things that are positive. The apostle Paul said, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things and the God of peace be with you". Phillippians 4:8

God wants to take care of us. No he's not going to set us all up in mansions and provide our every need and give us perfect bodies (that's our next life) but he does want to close doors that need to be closed, open doors that need to be opened, line things up to fall into place for us, turn our mistakes into blessing, be with us and give us hope and strength to get through the hard times and to rest is him. Yes, you heard it right. God wants for us to REST in HIM. The author of Psalms 91:1-2 wrote, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Accept God's love, mercy and grace. Accept your new title: heir to the throne, joint-heir with Christ. God loves you. He wants what is best for you. He knows everything. Give him a chance to show you that he is the best friend that you will ever have; honest, trustworthy, faithful, and cares about YOU.
