Right Relationship With God Day 5, final day

How well do you know your best friend's heart or your spouse's heart, your mom or dads heart? Why do you want to know their heart? Because you don't want to disappoint them or let them down or hurt them right? You want to do thoughtful, kind things like buy their favorite flowers, pick up their favorite food for supper, spend time doing what they enjoy doing and not do things to irritate like gritting your teeth or scraping a chalk board.

How well do you know God's heart? We've been set free from old testament law and are covered by grace but that doesn't give us a free pass to sin. How can we learn some things about God's heart? Old testament law, for example the ten commandments was written for our good. Jesus said you could sum up the law in two new commandments. Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and you should love your neighbor as thyself.

We also know from the Bible that we are the apple of God's eye, he is our protector and healer. He comforts us, give us peace beyond all understanding, gives us strength to go through the hard times, provides us with what we need, gives us the desires of our heart when we delight ourselves in him, and so much more. What does it mean to delight yourself in the Lord? Well, what is something you really love to do or someone you're really passionate about? How much time and effort do you put into those things? Now how can you put time and effort into being a blessing to God? What does he want us to do? He wants us to love him, love others, share the gospel with others so they'll believe and have eternal life? How do people know we belong to God? By the way we act, the love that we show because God is love and he has commanded us to love.

Having a right relationship with God can be summed up like this: get to know God's heart, give him yours, do things that you know are pleasing to God, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. But most important of all, remember he loves you unconditionally. He made you holy and without blame, righteous to stand before him without any sense of guilt or condemnation. God wants for you to feel loved, accepted, wanted and filled with hope for the future.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever should believe in him, will not perish, but will have everlasting life. John 3:16"
